Calvary Baptist had a sound system that was very old and sounded
terrible. They had updated their mics and mixer but they desperately
needed a new speaker system. They contacted EMI and we set out to
design a solution for them.
We designed a Bose Panaray 502 speaker system that consisted of two
speakers hung from the ceiling (barely visible in the above photo)
and a subwoofer that was hidden behind the grillwork behind the
cross. The design was much clear and less visible than the old speaker
system.

The addition of a new power amp, Bose controller and Shure DFR
11 EQ/Feedback reducer make the speaker system stable and easy to
run. Like most of the systems we design it needed very little adjustment
after the installation.
Calvary Baptist has a very active music program.
They also have a full time sound system operator. There isn't an
automatic mixer made that works as effectively as a good sound system
operator.

The most
effective
control is
a manual
control
console
and a good
operator

We were able to use some parts of the old system.... |

| We designed this sound system using Bose Modeler. This software tool allows us to make a computer model of the room. After we choose the speakers and location, Modeler will tell us the coverage, sound levels and intelligibility. The reverb time of the room will also be displayed. We often do additional reverb testing to double check our work. It is almost always exactly as predicted. |
