Salvation Army - Minneapolis

The Salvation Army has been one of our customers for a long time. We were excited to be chosen to provide the sound and video for their new Chapel.

As in any new construction, the challenge is to design a sound system (with video in this case) for a space before it is built.

The intimate feeling of this room belies the size and flexibility of this space. The customer needed a system that would accommodate everything from a single user to live music. They also wanted to be able in integrate video and recording into any service.

The intimate feeling of this room belies the size and flexibility of this space.

Our expertise with Bose Modeler software made the design of the system much easier. We were able to accurately predict the effect that different speaker selections and locations had on the final outcome.

The other details, such as the use of the Bose ControlSpace processor to route the sound for different kinds of uses and the location and type of video devices were determined by meetings with the customer.

The performance of the sound system and the customers satisfaction with their entire experience with us are our highest priorities.

All of the hard surfaces - the glass block and the plaster beams and ceilings - required the use of Bose Modeler to predict the intelligibility - and therefore the success - of this sound system.

Bose MA-12 speakers -pdf link-deliver more sound to rear areas. They are designed to be mounted fairly low and no longer need to be mounted in the visual center point of the room.

The Bose MA-12 line arrays can concentrate sound in a narrow arc and project the sound a long distance. Keeping unwanted sound from reflecting off of the walls also reduces echoes.

We used the BOSE ControlSpace digital processor in this system. This device is so flexible that it has become the standard in almost every new system we install.
The heart of the new system was the new BOSE ControlSpace.
BOSE says,"The ControlSpaceTM ESP-88 ... has ... Parameter sets. These potentially complex scenarios can then be named and (stored). The end user then needs only to select the event type on the ... control center. All source selection and system control functions happen automatically".

What does that mean?

In our own words it means that ControlSpace is a digital processor with PRESETS. It can be configured to provide single button solutions for almost all of your needs.
Presets can be made for:
• Summer services with no choir and pre-recorded music
• Weddings
• Choir practice
• Services where attendance is low (some speakers turned off)
• Services where overflow areas are used (speakers turned on)
• Controlling recordings
• Turning on your 32 channel mixer for the service with the full band!

Video is now a part of almost any installation we do! The size of the display needed is determined by the viewing angles and the distantness from the farthest seat to the images. Flat Panel LCD screens were used in this case The quality and flexibility of the mounts are important factors. Wired -pdf link- and wireless -pdf link-mics are used.

The Salvation Army has been a good customer for many years. We appreciate their business and the opportunity to design and install this system for them.
