Although the new St Huberts church can hold almost a thousand people, it still has a warm intimate feel. The sound system compliments that feeling by providing amplification without distracting the listeners. A good sound system should not be noticed and should seem to be an extension of the user. A computer program called "Modeler" by Bose was used to help determine the best location for the speakers in the room. The design used Bose Panaray 502 speakers. Their small size makes them go unnoticed against the large ceiling of the new building. The stability of the system helps reinforce the feeling that the sound is an extension of the persons voice. A lay down mixer was used in conjunction with a smaller automatic mixer to allow the system to be used without an operator for daily masses and with an operator for the larger contemporary services. |
