St Matthews was originally designed to have the sound system speakers hidden behind the grill cloth on the back wall. The new speakers were moved closed to the congregation for better intelligibility. The small size of the Bose 502 speakers don't obstruct the cross or skylight.
This birds eye view shows how each speaker is aimed directly at a listening area. This helps eliminate artificial echoes created by bad designs that aim audio energy against the walls.

The light weight (15lbs) Bose 502 speakers are suspended with aircraft quality cable. The cables are run through the ceiling and attached to the building structure. Three cables are used for accurate aiming and provide a huge safety factor.

The Shure DFR11EQ is set with special test equipment and a lap top computer. This tailors the room acoustics to the sound system, eliminating ringing and virtually preventing feedback. Since it cannot be adjusted by the end user, accurate settings are maintained. Automatic filters take care of unexpected feedback from changes in use or mic placement.
