St Pius X
The parishioners of St Pius X called EMI. A new sound system was needed for their newly restored church. They also wanted to simplify the wiring and use the system without an operator. Most importantly, the speakers needed to be unobtrusive and not detract from the beautiful restoration.
Bose Panaray 502 speakers were used. They were hung with aircraft cables. Then they were carefully aimed to match the spec of the computer model made earlier. They seem to "float" in the ceiling and are often not even noticed.
Computer modeling is the essential to good design. We can accurately predict the intelligibility of the sound system before it is completed.
As in all installations, the packaging of the electronic equipment to provide a secure, easy to use system (and sometimes tamperproof) is an often overlooked part of system design.

The input wiring was redone and the mic jacks relocated. Wireless mics were used in conjunction with wired mics. A total of sixteen input channels are available. The system is a set-and-forget type that is so stable that it rarely needs adjustment.
