Dozens of boxes of sound absorbing panels were delivered to the
job site. These panels were supplied by a company that specializes
in manufacturing acoustical products. The specifications of the panels
were carefully researched to make sure they would give up the results
we predicted.
It took days of work on the lift run the stringers
and hang the panels. Some of the ceiling details had been changed
during construction so we had to make changes on the fly.
There is no such thing as an "installation kit "! We had
to invent every step of the acoustical panel installation. The cold
of the ice added to the difficulty. Our access to the building was
very limited. "Ice Time" in Minnesota is always hard to
get. We worked many nights to hit the completion date.
After the acoustic panels were up we proceeded with the speaker
installation. Once again, we had to make the brackets to mount the
Bose 402II speakers. This distributed system allowed us to control
coverage and keep unwanted sound reflections to a minimum.
The finished product ( shown on the left ) looked like it belonged
there. Everyone was pleased with our attention to aesthetics.
The Gophers went on to win the WCHA championship. We are only taking
partial credit.
